In 1948, the late Brian Munn founded Munns Lawn Company Pty Ltd and in over 61 years it has become one of Australia’s best-known brands, with a reputation for innovation, quality and service. Its products are distributed through a wide retail network that includes Bunnings, Mitre 10, Plants Plus, Stratco and all good garden centres.
Proudly Australian owned, the company is based in South Australia, the driest state in the world’s driest continent, where it has met and overcome its biggest challenges in terms of environmental conditions. Brian Munn’s objective was to ensure top quality lawns by seeking out the best varieties of lawn grass for domestic as well as commercial use. Through trial and research Munns have created a range of lawn grasses that flourish in Australia’s harsh and diverse weather conditions, where temperature variations range between 2 – 50 degrees centigrade in a single state.
Today, under the direction of Julie Munn, the management team remains driven by the original vision: to provide quality through innovation.
The company has expanded into a multi-million dollar enterprise in which the lawn and garden care product range include lawn seeds, organic lawn & garden fertilisers, boosters and wetting agents. The Munns wetting agent product has been approved by NASAA (National Association for Sustainable Agriculture, Australia), which will not harm the environment.

Julie Munn – Managing Director
Since her appointment in 1960, Julie has brought a wealth of experience and knowledge to the company. In keeping with the company philosophy of meeting the toughest challenges of the environment through innovation, she successfully launched the National Campaign of Smartgrass in 1990 in every state of Australia. This revolutionary product was the catalyst for the company’s success in becoming a national supplier and captured Australia’s imagination as it exceeded consumer’s expectations with its performance in every type of weather – from the cool conditions of Tasmania to the hot dry regions of Western Australia. In the current climate with drought & water restrictions devastating the home gardener, Julie is constantly upgrading the warm season varieties within the Munns lawn seed range as she recognizes this is the way the home gardener should be heading. These varieties require a lot less water than cool season grasses. Julie is also thrilled that her twin daughters Dallas & Alexandra are proudly carrying on the family tradition.
Julie is also an accredited trainer and travels Australia training lawn & garden care employees of major hardware chains & garden center groups.
Dallas Munn – General Manager
Dallas started her career with Munns in 1992 and was appointed General Manager in early 2007. Prior to this appointment Dallas worked in finance, exports, and in the domestic marketing of Munns brands. Her vision is to sustain and develop the Munns tradition of providing quality products to its customers through research and innovation.
Alexandra Munn – Administration Manager
Armed with an Associate Diploma in Business, Alexandra set out to gain experience in administration, human resources and finance in one of Australia’s top companies prior to joining Munns in 1999. In her capacity as Administration Manager, Alexandra has established systems and corporate procedures that have contributed to Munn’s growth and success. Alexandra also heads up the marketing team which has developed successful National Advertising campaigns throughout Australia.
